Deutschland hat sich 2015 mit der Unterzeichnung des Pariser Abkommens und der Agenda 2030 dazu bekannt, die Transformation hin zu einer ökologisch, ökonomisch und sozial nachhaltigen Gesellschaft aktiv voranzutreiben. Dabei sind Innovationen ein zentraler Hebel für eine nachhaltige und klimagerechte Zukunft. Bislang werden mit Innovationen vorwiegend technische und technologische Modernisierungen assoziiert. Dies gilt es dringend zu ändern, insbesondere mit Blick auf aktuelle klima- und umweltpolitische Herausforderungen.
Im Auftrag des Bundesministeriums für Umwelt, Naturschutz, nukleare Sicherheit und Verbraucherschutz (BMUV) führt Yunus Environment Hub das Vorhaben „SINA – Soziale Innovationen für Nachhaltigkeit“ durch, dessen Fokus auf sozialen Innovationen für ökologischen Fortschritt liegt. Innovationen im Umwelt- und Klimaschutzbereich gehören zu wichtigen Wachstums- und Beschäftigungstreibern, und haben großes Potenzial in der erfolgreichen Umsetzung der Transformation hin zu einer nachhaltigen und zukunftsfesten Gesellschaft. Diese Zielsetzung wurde auch im Koalitionsvertrag der neuen Bundesregierung hervorgehoben.
Ziel des SINA-Vorhabens ist es, innerhalb von drei Jahren das ökologische, soziale und ökonomische Potential sozialer Innovationen für die Erreichung unserer Klima-, Umwelt- und Nachhaltigkeitsziele zu ermitteln und für die schnellere und effektivere Erreichung dieser Ziele bestmöglich zu nutzen. Durch die Analyse wird ein besseres Verständnis von Akteur*innen, Märkten, Herausforderungen und Bedarfen entwickelt. Die Analyse Sozialer Innovationen im Nachhaltigkeitssektor wird hierbei in sieben Themenblöcken gemeinsam mit einem eigens hierfür von YEH einberufenen Beirat vertieft und verfolgt das Ziel, politische Handlungsempfehlungen für eine effektive Unterstützungs- und Förderungsstruktur von Sozialen Innovationen zu entwickeln. Wir tragen mit SINA dazu bei, dass Akteur*innen in der Gesetzgebung, Verwaltung aber auch Privatwirtschaft informierte, zukunftsweisende und proaktive Entscheidungen treffen können.
Die politische und gesellschaftliche Bedeutung von Sozialen Innovationen für Nachhaltigkeit, sowie die Erkenntnisse und Ergebnisse des SINA-Vorhabens wird im Rahmen zweier öffentlicher Veranstaltungen und umfassender Kommunikationsarbeit der breiten Öffentlichkeit nähergebracht. By signing the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda in 2015, Germany committed to actively promoting the transformation towards an ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable society. Innovations hereby constitute key levers for a sustainable and climate-friendly future. So far, innovations have mainly been associated with technical and technological progress, which holds for the German context. This urgently needs to change, especially regarding the current climate and environmental challenges.
On behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), Yunus Environment Hub implements “SINA – Soziale Innovationen für Nachhaltigkeit“ (English: Social Innovations for Sustainability), an initiative which focuses on social innovations for ecological progress. Innovations in environmental and climate protection are among the most important drivers of growth and employment and have great potential in successfully mastering the transformation to a sustainable and future-fit society. The coalition agreement of the current German Federal Government emphasizes this aspiration.
Within three years the SINA program aims to determine the ecological, social and economic potential of social innovations to achieve Germany’s climate, environmental and sustainability goals. The analysis lays a foundation for better understanding of stakeholders, markets, challenges and needs. Together with an advisory council, social innovations in the sustainability sector are examined with regards to seven topics, thereby following the objective of developing policy recommendations for effective support and funding programs for social innovation in Germany. We herewith help policymakers, the public administration, and the private sector to make informed, future-oriented, and proactive decisions.
The political and societal relevance of social innovations for sustainability, as well as the findings of SINA will be brought closer to the public with the help of two public events and extensive communication work. Further information and results of our work can be found here (German only):
