Ishan Bhat
Project Manager
Ishan joins Yunus Environment Hub as Project Manager for the CirculaRise Accelerator.
He brings more than 8 years of international experience in creating sustainable value for social and business stakeholders in circularity in Germany and India (through plastics and textile recycling for impact jobs creation) and in sustainable mobility (by co-developing innovative electric vehicles for the sharing economy). Through his experiences in social business and sustainability projects, Ishan has a deep understanding of “what actually does good” for the environment, communities and the ecosystem.
He has expertise in European and Indian sustainability regulations, cross-functional stakeholder co-ordination, agile project management, and applied systems and design thinking approach. He has direct experience participating in (Circular Valley Program, Wuppertal) as well as supporting climate & circularity-oriented (HardTech Innovation) accelerator programs.
Ishan believes in leveraging the positive power of co-creation and collective social responsibility to solve complex societal and environmental problems with measurable and sustained value. He exemplifies implementing these values through his community-oriented closing-the-loop recycling project aimed at creating a scalable and open-source social recycling hub in Berlin.
Originally from the Himalayan part of India, Ishan finds a true sense of inspiration and humility from nature. He has done numerous hikes in India’s tropical wilderness, the Himalayas as well as in the European wild (including Iceland and the Azores). Through his deep experience in the natural world he approaches circularity projects with a holistic view of natural balance and planetary boundaries.
Ishan has a Masters degree with a focus on sustainability and entrepreneurship from ESMT Berlin, where he was an active part of the Social Impact Club and also co-organized an entrepreneurship-oriented cohort trip to California. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Information Systems from BITS Pilani University in India.
In his free time, Ishan loves reading fiction/biographies, playing badminton (in the Berlin/Brandenburg League), improving his woodworking skills, cooking creatively and cycling.
