Annette Heiss
Interim Operations Manager
Annette brings extensive expertise from the NGO sector, particularly in nature conservation and sustainable blue economy.
Her background includes managing international projects and leading EU-funded initiatives, partnership development across NGOs, public institutions, and private actors. She also enjoys facilitating workshops and trainings.
Before joining YEH, Annette led the EU-funded Baltic MUPPETS project at the Submariner Network for Blue Growth, pioneering the use of mussel-based products as sustainable alternatives for pet food and as a measure to reduce eutrophication in the Baltic Sea.
Previously, Annette worked at WWF Germany for a significant period, including as a Project Manager for Coastal East Africa & Latin America, contributing to projects focusing on marine protected areas, climate adaptation, protection and restoration of mangroves and coral reefs, and small-scale fisheries.
Annette’s academic background includes a Master of Arts in Environmental Management from Freie Universität Berlin and a German French diploma in the European Business Programme from FH Münster/Bordeaux Ecole de Management.
In her free time, Annette enjoys exploring Berlin’s cultural scene and travelling with her family.
